You Work Hard! You Play Hard! You dont have Time to Waste. Most men we know want a simple regimen for basic body care that is easy to follow. A system that takes care of your body not just from the outside but from the inside as well. The BodyTools System is based upon the fact that lifestyle contributes a large part to how you feel, how you age and how you look. Most experts now believe that up to 70% of all health problems stem from lifestyle choices. Your skin, as an outer reflection of your inner health, also is responsive to these lifestyle choices. Fortunately, the lifestyle habits that work best for staying healthy are also the next best thing to a fountain of youth for your skin as well.
The ageing process starts the day we are born. Cell damage from free radicals, tiny molecules produced when a cell converts oxygen into energy, is responsible for most of the effects we call ageing. Antioxidants, produced by the body and reinforced from anti-oxidant foods, protect the cells from damage by seeking out and neutralizing these free radicals. BUT these defenses are never 100% efficient. It is the accumulation of the un-repaired cellular damage that fuels the aging process which can lead to the development of cancer, heart disease, cataracts and premature skin ageing including: oil producing glands becoming less active, drier and sagging skin, and wrinkles. Exposure to UV radiation accelerates the normal ageing process of the skin and also damages the genetic structure of skin cells, which contributes to the development of skin cancer. Cigarette smoking can have the same effect. Experts believe that "90-95% of all skin damage including wrinkles and skin cancers comes from exposure to the sun." And this is more than just a cosmetic issue. One in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime and this year alone more than 1 million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed. Over 95,000 of these will be new cases of melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer). Every 60 minutes one person dies of melanoma in the United States. And bad news for men: Older Caucasian males have the highest mortality rates from melanoma.*
*A special note to Men: Make an extra effort to examine your skin, especially on your upper back, for signs of melanoma. A recent study found men are much less likely to discover skin lesions than women.
What you can do
Doing something about it is easier than you think. Most scientists agree that what you chose to put in-and on-your body and how you treat it on a daily basis can not only slow down the ageing process on the inside but can slow it down on the outside as well. Americans spend billions of dollars each year on anti-ageing products including "wrinkle" creams and skin lotions. At BodyTools we believe that the simplest and cheapest ways to keeping your skin healthier and younger looking may just be to fight back with: A diet rich in antioxidant foods (highly colored fruits and vegetables), regular physical activity, getting plenty of sleep and a simple skin care routine that focuses on these three essentials:
1.Cleanse your skin twice a day, 2. Moisturize your skin regularly using a heavy water-in-oil moisturizer, and finally 3. Protect your skin from the harmful effects of the suns rays by using a total face and body moisturizer during the day that provides complete sunscreen from both UVA and UVB rays. You want a product that is at least SPF 15 for UVB protection and one that contains Parsol 1789, Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide for complete UVA protection. Add to these the basics of shaving and the advanced science of skin repair and that's all you need for great looking skin.
